Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Potsticker: your account, Potsticker Plus, the recipes you keep and share, and what you can count on from us.

Last updated

The short version

  • Your recipes, photos and notes are yours. We only use them to run Potsticker for you.
  • Potsticker Plus is a subscription through Apple. It renews on its own until you cancel it in your Apple ID settings, and Apple handles refunds.
  • Imported recipes belong to the people who made them. Potsticker keeps their credit and a link to the original.
  • A recipe you share is public until you stop sharing it.
  • Ratings, calories and nutrition are helpful estimates, not medical or dietary advice.

The short version is only a summary. The full terms below are what count.

This agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Dishpin Apps LLC, a California limited liability company ("Potsticker", "we", "us"). Andrey Neudachin is our authorized representative. These terms cover the Potsticker app for iPhone, the website at potsticker.app, and Potsticker Plus. By creating an account or using Potsticker, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Potsticker.

Potsticker is a brand of Dishpin Apps LLC. Rights in our app, website and original materials belong to Dishpin Apps LLC or their respective licensors. This does not give us ownership of your content or third-party recipes, as explained below.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why. It is part of these terms.

Your account

  • You need an account to use the app. You can sign in with Apple or with a code we email you.
  • You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
  • Keep access to the email or Apple ID you sign in with. Anyone who can sign in as you can see and change your kitchen.
  • One account is for one person. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else is using yours.
  • You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings, then Delete account.

Potsticker Plus

Potsticker is free to use. Potsticker Plus is an optional subscription that adds more, such as unlimited recipe imports and the weekly menu with a shopping list. The app shows which features are part of Plus. Free accounts include a limited number of imports, and the app shows how many you have left.

Paying and renewing

  • You buy Potsticker Plus through Apple's App Store, and Apple charges your Apple ID. We never see your card details.
  • The price, the billing period and any free trial are shown in the app and in Apple's purchase sheet before you pay.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase, or when the free trial ends if your plan starts with one.
  • Your subscription renews automatically at the same price and for the same period, unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple charges the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
  • If the price changes, Apple tells you before it applies, and asks for your agreement when the rules require it.

Free trials

Some plans start with a free trial. The app shows whether a plan has one and how long it lasts, and Apple decides whether your Apple ID can use it. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it turns into a paid subscription. If you buy a subscription during a trial, any unused part of the trial ends.

Cancelling and refunds

  • Manage or cancel Potsticker Plus in your Apple ID settings: on your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. You can also get there from Settings in Potsticker.
  • When you cancel, Plus keeps working until the end of the period you paid for, and then stops renewing.
  • Apple handles all payments, so Apple handles refunds too. You can ask for one atreportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds ourselves.
  • Deleting your Potsticker account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it in your Apple ID settings first, or it keeps billing.

When Plus ends

Your recipes, photos, menus and lists stay yours and stay readable. Features that need Plus, such as imports beyond the free allowance or planning another week, ask for Plus again.

Your recipes and photos

Everything you add to Potsticker stays yours: the recipes you write or save, your photos, notes, ratings, menus and lists. We don't claim ownership of any of it.

So that we can run Potsticker for you, you give us permission to store, copy, back up, process and show your content, only as needed to provide the features you use. For example, we read a link you share with Potsticker to turn it into a recipe, and we keep a copy of your meal photos so they come back on a new phone. If you share a recipe, you also let us show it publicly, as described below, until you stop sharing it. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep by law and backups that expire on their own.

You are responsible for what you add. Only add photos and text that you have the right to use, and that don't break the law or anyone else's rights.

Recipes from creators

When you save a recipe from a video, a post or a website, it still belongs to the person who made it. Potsticker keeps the creator's name and a link to the original with the recipe, and never republishes their video.

Recipes you save are for your own cooking. Please don't republish someone else's recipe as your own, or use Potsticker to copy creators' work in bulk.

Sharing a recipe

  • When you share a recipe, Potsticker makes a public page for it at dishpin.app or potsticker.app. Anyone with the link can see it, and search engines can find it.
  • The page doesn't show your name, email or account, unless you wrote them into the recipe. An imported recipe keeps its creator's credit and a link to the original.
  • You can stop sharing at any time from the recipe in the app. The page then goes away, and the old link stays dead even if you share the recipe again later.
  • Anyone can save a shared recipe into their own Potsticker. Copies already saved by other cooks stay in their recipe boxes after you stop sharing.
  • Only share recipes you have the right to share, and nothing you want to keep private.

Reports and takedowns

Every shared recipe page has a "Report this recipe" link. You can also write to[email protected] with the page's link and what's wrong.

If a shared page infringes someone's rights or breaks these terms, we take the public page down. The recipe stays in the sharer's own recipe box; only the public page goes. If someone's pages are reported and removed again and again, we may take down all of their shared pages.

If you own a recipe, photo or text that you believe was shared without permission, please send us:

  • the link to the page;
  • a description of the work you own;
  • your name and how to reach you;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn't authorized, and that the information in your notice is accurate;
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you own the work or are allowed to act for the owner;
  • your signature (typing your full name is fine).

Send copyright notices to [email protected].

Using Potsticker fairly

Please don't:

  • break the law, or use Potsticker to infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
  • share recipes, photos or text that are hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, violent, misleading or dangerous;
  • pretend to be a creator or someone else, or remove a creator's credit;
  • try to get around Potsticker Plus or the free import allowance, for example with several accounts;
  • scrape Potsticker, use bots or scripts to import or share in bulk, or resell Potsticker or anything it makes;
  • probe, overload or break Potsticker, or get into accounts or systems that aren't yours;
  • copy, change or take apart the app, except where the law allows you to.

If you do, we may remove content, stop features, or suspend or close your account.

Product ratings

When you scan a barcode in the store, Potsticker shows a rating word and the reasons behind it. Ratings are information to help you shop. They are not medical or dietary advice, and they don't know your health, your diet or your allergies.

Product details come from Open Food Facts, a free database that anyone can edit, and can be wrong or out of date. Always check the package, especially for allergens. How Potsticker rates products explains the method.

Nutrition and calories

Nutrition facts for recipes, and calorie and nutrient estimates for meals, including those from a photo of your meal, are approximate. They can be off by a meaningful amount, especially for home cooking, mixed dishes and portions judged from a photo. Daily targets are optional and only for your own reference.

Potsticker is not a medical device and doesn't give medical, nutritional or dietary advice. Don't rely on it to manage a health condition, an eating disorder, diabetes or a food allergy. Talk to a doctor or a registered dietitian for that.

Cooking safely

Recipes in Potsticker come from you and from creators, and we don't test them. Use your own judgment in the kitchen: check ingredients for allergens, cook food to safe temperatures, and take care with knives, heat and timers.

Changes and ending

  • Potsticker is growing. We may add, change or remove features, and some features may move between free and Plus. If we remove a Plus feature you're paying for, we'll tell you in the app.
  • We work to keep Potsticker running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors.
  • You can stop using Potsticker at any time, and delete your account in Settings.
  • We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other people or Potsticker at risk. When we can, we'll tell you why first.
  • If we ever shut Potsticker down, we'll give you notice and a way to get your recipes out first.

Apple

Because you get the app from Apple's App Store, these points also apply:

  • These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content.
  • We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as Apple's Usage Rules allow.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation to support the app.
  • If the app doesn't meet a warranty that applies to it, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund what you paid for the app, if anything. As far as the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims about the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
  • If anyone claims the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for handling that claim.
  • You confirm that you are not in a country under a U.S. government embargo or listed as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • You must also follow the terms of any third-party service you use with the app, such as your mobile carrier.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and can enforce them against you.

Disclaimers

Potsticker is provided "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we make no promises beyond those in these terms, and we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that recipes, imports, ratings or estimates are complete or correct.

Some places don't allow these exclusions. Where that's true, they apply only as far as the law allows, and nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer that can't be waived.

Limits on liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill, that come from using or not being able to use Potsticker.

As far as the law allows, our total liability for any claim about Potsticker is limited to the greater of what you paid for Potsticker Plus in the 12 months before the claim, or US $50.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

If you break these terms or the law and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs, as far as the law allows.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute that we can't settle by talking it through goes to the state or federal courts in San Mateo County, California, and you and we agree to those courts. If you live outside the United States, you keep any protection the laws of your country give you, and you can bring a claim in your local courts where those laws allow.

If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a part of these terms right away, we can still enforce it later.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Potsticker changes. We'll change the date at the top of this page, and for an important change we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Potsticker after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you don't agree with them, you can delete your account.
